A very good reason to clamp down on sellers sending items from overseas ,
but who have their location showing as Australia.

Just a tip , if as a buyer you purchase something  from sellers who have their location showing as somewhere in Australia and should you have to lodge a "item not as described" case with PayPal , or finding some resolution with the seller , sending it back to the country it was posted from will be very expensive and at your cost.

It's a shame this is still going on , buyers leaving feedback saying item/s were received but were posted from overseas and they are not as described/fake etc and the item location was false .

This seems more endemic  from new sellers  , who should have in their listings that the the items are not in their possession yet get away with this all the time , in fact what is most likely the case is that these are overseas sellers using an AU contact to sign up with quicksales.

Nearly got caught myself today when questioning a piece of jewellery , only to be told it was coming from HK . Nothing in the listing to indicate this.

Good point Bella

All we can do is keep reporting these sellers to Admin !!!

It's hard enough for us honest sellers to keep competing with these sharks

When I was listing here - all mine were clearly listed as to where they were coming from.  As a seller I had nothing to hide - and used to hope I was a little step above these people that didn't let potential buyers know.

I am one of the sellers who has there majority of items posted from overseas.

I do have this stated in my listings.

Unfortunately for me i cannot put the item location in here like i can do on ebay.

If there was i would happily use it as a lot of buyers do not read listings in full.

I contacted admin once with regards to being able to put in locations but got no reply.

So not all sellers with items coming from overseas are shonky.

Hi everyone,

one of the tell tale signs that an item is coming from overseas is the postage rate - dead giveaway - usually a classic example is a handbag with a postage rate of $20 - $25.00 - that is an item that comes from hong kong or china.

Yes and also check the sellers feedback to see what the comments are that have been left by buyers in regards to how long postage has taken.

Another sign - a seller that does'nt know a bracelet from a pendant, and has asian writing on their pics.  Well, maybe not.

hi,
they are called dropship items. the seller doesn't have the item in stock. they just list the item and take the order. not a good way to business in my opinion. the problem with this is the item may not be available at the time of purchase which is unfair on the buyer. none of my items are dropship. but I do buy & sell. you can spot a dropship item easily on here or e..., you can tell by the item image, the image has no background.

is dropship illegal on here I don't know?

in my opinion should be banned from auction sites

Dropshipping is an e-commerce term.
Last century it was called being a selling agent, a term and practice still ongoing in the on & off-line world today.

It is totally legal & major retailers do it frequently.

It is allowed on this and other sites as long as the seller advises that the items will be shipped directly from the manufacturer/distributor/agent.

Sellers who do mention this in their listings are conducting business in an honest manner & as such, their advice of the shipping location should be regarded as a quality sign of their operational ethics.

Dropshipping is allowed here providing the seller discloses this in the listing .

Never said all sellers who send from overseas are shonky , only those who choose not to disclose this .

That would be a good thing for sellers to be able to show tvshowsondvd

"I contacted admin once with regards to being able to put in locations but got no reply."

which is a shame .

All My games are delivered from the UK to Australia (UK is same format as Australia =PAL)

I make a point of it in ALL My listing ...Ive even made a template so that I know it goes onto all My listings.

I have seen some on here who used to put that their items came from over sea's but have now removed it because they want to be one up and get a sale over someone stating the truth ... Ive also seen them adding postage charges to bring down the cost of an item so it seems more attractive against someone who gives free postage too.

Gaming wise I have come across people who have no idea what they are legally allowed to sell on here either (meaning by way of importing into Australia)

I check My listings everday ...if My supplier has sold out/doesnt have the item in stock then I remove it straight away.

its down to individual sellers how they conduct their sales on here I guess .... but the more honest of us shouldnt be labeled the same as them.

Another dead give-away is when the seller's location says "Canberra, Victoria".  Pity the shonky ones weren't all that dumb.....
