No you don't leave it operating on gas while travelling

You just turn it on again using the gas when you pull up and set up.

Cheers
Jo

edit: unless going a fair distance in one hit the contents should stay cool. Just turn the fridge off as the last thing you do before pulling out to start the journey.

our one is 3 way.
When travelling you turn it on to the car battery. It conects with the lights etc.
Stop in the wop wops use gas, travelling car, caravan park their power.
Happy travelling.
As Job says,  NO gas travelling.

That's right, don't run the gas while you are driving.  Way too dangerous.  You try and get a second hand fridge if you really want it to run on power.

It should be three way, 240 volt, 12 volt and gas.

If you have the van connected to on-site 240 volt ( caravan park or home ) you have it switched to that. You will find that the   240 volt power lead that is suitable for connecting the van to caravan park power will not plug into a normal household power point, it has a larger 'earth' prong and has to be rated at least 15 amp, normal house power points are 10 amp

If you are camped somewhere and stationary without 240 volt power you switch it to gas. It is wise to always have a spare ( full ) gas bottle. Try to always fill your gas bottles in cities, just like petrol or diesel gas can be double the price in country areas

If you are driving along you have it switched to 12 volt power but if you tend to stop from time to time be aware that the 12 volt will drain your car battery or battery pack pretty quickly perhaps leaving you stranded and unable to start your car.

It is also very important to have your van level when parked else the fridge may not work, this doesn't seem to matter if you are driving

There's some handy info on the 'Caravan and Camping' websites.
