'completed listings' anyone ?
hi everyone..

just wondering if anyone would like to see a 'completed listings'  (for want of a better name) option on a search page ?

i think when selling it helps to see what previous items have sold for or whether they did at all ..

any thoughts ?

K :)

Great idea.  They obviously dont want to do it because items have been getting ridiculously low prices here.

hi feelin :)

yes i think youve got it there :) .. also as i thought as its free to list then they poss dont see a need for us to know if the item will do well or not as we arent losing anything by listing something that doesnt sell   :)  but i think your idea is better :)

thanks :)

Personally I don't think feelins idea is better, as I'd rather think of a positive reason, rather than a negative one?  You know, is your glass half empty or half full scenario?

We have lots of places we can look up items to see how much they are worth, that is why google was invented , and you can even see items that have sold on this site, or previously oztion, for that matter going back months.   Even ebay only shows items sold for a certain period, and when I last looked it was only for 2 weeks, so that is a small window to compare with anyway and also the condition and age of the item has to be taken into account.

Who gives a toss what's been sold?

Not buyers.

Buyers want to know what's for sale, what it is, the condition and the postage.

Actuallly as a Buyer I look at sold lists all the time on eBay so does the OH , it's a good way to gauge what things are selling for and what limits to set when buying and what the going rate is for specialised items or everyday stuff like I even looked for comparisons on certain Tupperware items.
Once I got the idea of what they were selling for it was easier to shortlist items listed and I didn't waste my time looking at overpriced items.

When your searching for items to buy or sell in the $50-$500 range your going to want to be able to get an idea of the selling rate (as in popularity) and the ending prices.

I wouldn't be bothered with stuff like $2 & $5 items

If it was available here I would use it as well both for buying and selling

I buy that stuff from B & M Stores so I can return the item if it breaks down while under warranty because first and last time I bought something over $150 here part of it broke down after a week of use. Can only get that small but vital part from the seller at more cost to me so the rest of the item sits in the shed gathering dust.

I was referring to colletables and coins in particular , personally I see no need to buy anything that has or should have a warranty - online when it can be bought in a shop.

I've been looking for a laptop battery and so far have not found one genuine brand listed , but all with 12 months warranty written on loo paper

thanks all.

i dont know of too many businesses that do anything for customers benefit over making money.  it would be nice to live in a world where we could try to think the best of everything but as experience grows hopes of that dont .

i always try to give anyone the benefit of the doubt which has sometimes led to disappointment.

if anyone can give us a good reason why this hasnt been available after a few people have already said it has been asked for then the mystery will be solved ..

as you say 'worth' is easy to find but value & the price people will pay for something dont equate to its current worth on google.

some items are no longer available so how does anyone gauge what an older item will make for them without poss seeing a similar sold item.

its true that we have nothing to lose by listing .. only a precious thing in todays terms .. our time.

obviously some people do pisces.  buyers have a wonderful time on here but if sellers constantly list items & sell very few even with a free listing policy they may give up when simply knowing what price to set for their items may make it easier to sell for them .. that is one positive .

thanks so much for your great insight into how you use the completed information issabella . im sure thats how all smart sellers & buyers use it also ..

shame about the laptop battery maybe thats something that can be found on google ?
