I had an undiagnosed breach baby. The pregnancy ran as normal up until the labour when on inspection, they realised a bottom was coming out first, not a head. She was born a few days over due. I felt no pains or anything out of the ordinary. Good luck :)

Sounds like he is engaged lol
I haven't had a breech, but I know with my second that I hurt everywhere in the last month or two. He was pressing on a nerve or something because my leg would lock up - quite embarrassing because I had to stop and breath until the pain went away - but even worse was the fact my mum would start screaming at me and calling me names - saying I was faking it to upset her blah blah (she blamed her outbursts on menopause hahaha) but I also felt every move the little sod made, he decided to go for a swim at about 6 months and would twirl around for days - leaving me laying on the bed screaming in pain - in the end I put my hand on the back of his head and one on his bum and pushed him and then held him there until he gave up, must have gotten 'locked in to position' as he didn't do it after that - only one of my three that I felt turn :) Didn't make much of a difference because he was a c-section delivery too because he was sitting up under my ribs!
Never had braxton hicks, or a natural birth, or even one labour pain :):)

My oldest was breech and her bum engaged a bit. Tried to have her turned externally but they could not get her out of her spot. To know if they are engaged ... well you will most likely know as the presure is really uncomfortable lol. Not sure about my oldest as that has been a while. As to the braxton hicks ...never had them (lucky me) but I know some friends had them for months before baby was borne.
The pain down below could be a sign that baby is engaged...that is the way it felt with me but of course I am no midwife. Again if this is your first they can be engaged for a while before baby comes.
Edit: and she was born by c-section

Thanx to All...and to Dutch....this is my 3rd...1st was 19 yrs ago and ended up being a forceps delivery as she was face up...2nd was 4 1/2 yrs ago and he was induced and arrived 1 1/2 hours later..way too quick....and now this one...has been breech all along..they say as the placenta is straight across the front of my uterus that is why he hasn't turned...if it was just the cramps in the belly i can breathe through that but it is the pain in my back and the nauseous feeling that comes with it that hit me more....i have a midwife appointment next tuesday so i will find out then i guess...

My 1st was a breech and there were no signs or pain (lucky me) til a week or so b4 she was born. I had several doctors trying to physically turn her (they tried this twice, stubborn caveman dr's), but this was back in 1982 & hoping they dont to that anymore, it was quite painful and scary + did not work at all. I had a C-Section and found out later I had a tilted funnelling pelvis (I was a tiny size 6 back then) + she was a big baby and could not fit properly in my oddly shaped pelvis ... lol.
All the best for the rest of your pregnancy and hope the pain does not get any worse for you - Hugs to you and your new baby .... xox

Our 3rd was breech, and my dr basically said I could birth the baby or have a C/S ,he is not a huge believer in externally turning bubby(he says that just as often as it does work, bub will turn right back as it prefers the position!). I was happy to have a normal delivery, and that's what happened. The engagement didn't happen till during labour(quite common in later pregnancies),and he was a bum first breech. 2hrs labour,no drugs or stitches, and it really didn't feel weird, just like birthing the head twice LOL

It also depends on what kind of breech it is and where you live if they will let you try naturally. With mine, I could not try naturally where I live. Time just seems to go so slow when you are having a hard pregnancy. And every pregnancy is different. I also found my third one the hardest.
If you do end up having a c-section, don't worry to much. With my first I hardly had any pain. And they have good pain relief these days
. The only thing I would advise is to see what they use as a spinal block. My last c-section they used morfine and it made me very itchy when it wore of.
